The Pascal programming language was designed by Niklaus Wirth. Wirth began designing Pascal in 1968 and completed and announced it in 1970. He delivered a paper to Springer-Verlag in October 1970 that they published in March 1971 in Volume 1, Issue 1 of Acta Informatica. The 27 page article was titled "The Programming Language Pascal".
In July 1973 he published a revised version of a document called The Programming Language Pascal, which describes the language.
